One Reel, the Seattle-based, non-profit arts organization, was looking to overhaul their web presence. In the past, event promotion on the web was more of an afterthought. Now, the company was interested in taking advantage of the web to help disseminate information and to sell tickets for their events, including Bumbershoot, Womad USA and the AT&T Summer Nights at the Pier concert series.
With the old, loose collection of web sites, there had been no coherency among the different events. One Reel requested that the five events that were to have web sites be linked together and yet still retain their individual identities. One Reel was also interested in making sure the One Reel brand name was more strongly identified with each of the events. Most people know Bumbershoot, for example, but they don't know that it is One Reel that produces the event.
Previously, there had been little cross-promotion of One Reel events. The new web sites had to make visitors to one event aware of other One Reel events.

One Reel also asked that the web site be built so it could be maintained easily by in-house personnel after completion of the project. This collection of web sites was designed and built in 1999, then handed off to One Reel for updates and maintenance.
